4 more villages liberated in Kobanê

4 more villages have been liberated within the scope of the operation called “Operation for Girik Martyrs”, launched yesterday jointly by the YPG/YPJ forces and Burkan Al-Firat fighters in the southern areas of Kobanê.

YPG/YPJ and Burkan Al-Firat forces launched an operation in memories of those fighters who lost their lives on 22 February 2015. The operation is dedicated to the memories of Ş. Êvar, Ş. Egîd, Ş. Şiyar, Ş. Demhat and Ş. Devrim and is called: “Revenge Operation for Girik Martyrs”.

The operation was launched yesterday at 08:00 over an area of 15 km starting from Sedar Hill and extending to the village of Martyr Qert, 50 km to the south of Kobanê. YPG/YPJ and Burkan Al-Firat forces carried out several attacks on gang positions, liberating the villages of Bîr Mihelî, Eyûş, Boz and Irnê as well as the strategically important Ş. Hecî Hill.

Following the liberation of Miheli, Eyus and Boz villages, the joint forces launched an attack on the village of Irne near the village of Davi. Suffering heavy blows, the gang groups attempted to attack Irne village with a bomb-laden vehicle, but the resistance forces destroyed the vehicle before it reached the targeted area. The operation of the YPG and Burkan Al-Firat forces continued in the area with search and cleansing actions. The clashes between the ISIS gangs and the joint forces are also continuing in some areas.

In the meantime, YPG/YPJ forces launched attacks on ISIS-held villages to the south west of Til Temir in the Cizire (Jazirah) canton of Rojava. 1 gang member was reportedly killed in the clashes.

Meanwhile, YPG/YPJ forces launched another attack on the gangs on the line between Til Mixas and Til Misase, leaving 1 other gang member dead.

The clashes in the region are reported to be continuing.
