Cizîrê Canton Yazidi House: We will do whatever it takes to ensure the freedom of Öcalan

The Syrian Yazidi House announced that they will take all kinds of actions to ensure the physical freedom of Kurdish People's Leader, Abdullah Öcalan.

On 14 May 2024, the Syrian Initiative for the Freedom of Abdullah Öcalan started visiting political parties in northern and eastern Syria as part of the "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan and a political solution to the Kurdish question" campaign that was launched globally on 10 October 2023. On 26 May 2024, the Initiative met with Kurdish, Armenian, Syriac, Assyrian and Arab political parties and started talks with parliamentary, church and tribal opinion leaders on 29 May. The initiative has also visited the Armenian Community Assembly in Qamishlo in recent days.

In this scope, a delegation of the Initiative visited the Cizîrê Canton Yazidi House in Berzan village, north of Hesekê.

The delegation, consisting of the spokesperson of the initiative, Ferzende Munzir, and initiative members Nuha Omer and Fuad Coli, was welcomed by İsmail Delf, co-chair of the Cizîrê Canton Yazidi House, and Fewaz Ebo, a member of the Yazidi House.

During the visit, the initiative spokesperson Ferzende Munzir explained the objectives of the international campaign.

İsmail Delf, Co-Chair of the Yazidi House, said the following: "No matter what we do, we cannot repay Leader Abdullah Öcalan. He has attached great importance to the Yazidi community. He knows its history well and the PKK has called for the protection of this community. We saw how PKK fighters rushed to Shengal to protect the Yazidis."

Delf continued: "We must take a step abroad and in European countries to make our voices heard by the state institutions and legal organisations there to achieve our main goal, the physical freedom of Leader Abdullah Öcalan."

Delf pointed out that Yazidis now have the right to worship in peace and said, "We are ready for whatever is asked of us. We call on our people all around the world to join the international campaign."

Fewaz Ebo, a member of the Syrian Yazidi House, said: "Leader Abdullah Öcalan called on freedom fighters to protect the Yazidi people. Upon this call, freedom fighters intervened and saved them from the oppression and genocide of ISIS gangs."

Ebo stated, "We owe Leader Öcalan. We need to repay this debt. Because his ideas are not only for the Kurdish people, but also for the free people."

Expressing that they will do whatever it takes to ensure the physical freedom of Leader Abdullah Öcalan, Ebo added, "The freedom of the Yazidi community depends on the freedom of the Kurdish people."

The initiative presented Öcalan’s books to the Yazidi House.
