During the bombardment on Qandil region of Medya Defense Zones today noon, Turkish fighter jets targeted the Mehmet Karasungur Cemetery of Martyrs. While all the graves in the cemetery were demolished, the nearby museum of martyrs was also bombed and demolished.
The Mehmet Karasungur Cemetery of Martyrs had been shelled by Turkish warplanes last months as well. The cemetery which is a home to martyrs from four parts of Kurdistan is often visited by the families of fallen guerrillas. The museum by the cemetery also preserves images and memoirs of the martyrs.
As the bombardments of the Turkish military continue giving a huge harm to the nature and living beings, the doves feeding in the cemetery were also killed during today's shelling on the cemetery.
People rushed to the cemetery to see a terrifying scene following the bombardment.
Civilian Mam Şêx from Qandil stated that: “Nowhere else in the world are cemeteries being bombed. This is just inhumane. This is the biggest betrayal. I condemn the fascist Turkish state that did not have its share of humanity, and is afraid of our dead.”
A guerrilla by the name of Çekdar described the Turkish state's bombardment of cemetery of martyrs as an indication of its weakness, stressing that: "The cemeteries of martyrs is our red line. They will pay for this."
