Truth: one thing Turkish government could not allow

It is clearly no coincidence that firatnews agency first and now RojTv are getting under attack. First of course it was 15 February demonstrations, now Newroz is approaching, and then the elections on 12 June. Spreading messages and news among Kurds is not something the Turkish government and state love to see. Especially when it also means exposing the lies the government keeps telling. Lies about mass graves and forced disappearances, lies about a 'democratic opening' which, let's face it, does not exist anymore if it ever did. The AKP (Justice and Development Party) government has a problem: winning the elections once more. It probably will win in the end, thanks to a threshold which ensure democracy can not be exercised. But it will be a Pirrus' victory because indeed AKP has nothing new to offer to the country. And BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) will indeed be a thorn in the side of the new government: there to remind AKP its faults and devastating choices. Because first of all the government seems to have chosen not to solve the Kurdish issue. And this means possible more war. Up to now the PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party) has been standing up to its responsibility and to its word. But repression continues and it is likely to increase with Newroz and the elections approaching.

Some Turkish commentators are warning of possible PKK violence, how hypercritical this stance is. The PKK is observing a unilateral ceasefire, while the Turkish army is continuing its military operations. And the police keeps arresting scores of Kurdish activists asking for peace.

And we go back to square one, that is to the attempt to silence the Kurdish people media. Firatnews was heavily attacked and now is RojTv turn. Truth is one thing the Turkish government could not allow to be told. As all Pirrus' victory though it will soon turn on the Turkish government itself.
