Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan says Turkey's ruling AKP government has no decision on peace but shows efforts to eliminate Kurdish political powers.
Speaking with his lawyers during his weekly meeting Ocalan said AKP is coordinating the police operations against Kurdish politicians in Kurdish region and this plan is as dangerous as Turkish contr-guerilla tactics in 1990s. He said AKP is more than determined to eliminate Kurdish political powers and all developments show that there is a genocide threat against Kurds from the Turkish state.
Kurdish leader warned Kurdish parties that the so called KCK operations may continue and thousands more may be jailed. He labelled these efforts as a “part of a plan against Kurds” and said Kurdish political parties must be fully aware of the tactics developed by the AKP.
“The state must take steps which will pave the way for peace. If they don't take steps I will stop playing my role as a mediator. There are no signs which shows us that something will be different after June. If they don't show us anything there is nothing I can do” Ocalan said.
“I said it before. The Turkish government must take a “peace decision”. If they really want it, if they have the will this is a very easy thing to do” he added.
Ocalan also said that he sent several letters to Turkish President Abdullah Gul and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and couldn't get any answer. Kurdish leader underlined the fact that he should be recognised as a legitimate partner for peace talks.
He also warned that a process of a total resistance can start for Kurdish people if the peace efforts fail.
Ocalan also called CHP leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu to build dialogue with the Peace and Democracy Party and said a coalition with democrat Kemalist may open a new page on Turkish and Kurdish relations.
