HPG: Guerrillas responded to Turkish attacks on resistance tunnels in Zap

The Turkish army continues its attacks on guerrilla areas in northern Iraq unabated despite a ceasefire declared by the PKK.

Despite a ceasefire declared unilaterally by the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), the Turkish army continues to escalate their attacks on the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).

The press center of the People's Defense Forces (HPG) announced on Wednesday that the occupying Turkish army has bombed the guerrilla areas 937 times during the past three days. Guerrillas responded to the Turkish troops who attacked the resistance tunnels, destroying a position and a surveillance camera of the invaders.

The HPG statement listed the details of the latest wave of attacks against guerrilla areas as follows:

Attacks with banned explosives;

On March 23, our tunnels in Girê Amediyê Resistance Area in Şehîd Delîl Western Zap region were bombed twive by drones loaded with explosives.

On March 24, our tunnels in Girê Amediyê Resistance Area in Şehîd Delîl Western Zap region were bombed once with drones loaded with explosives.

Strikes by fighter jets and attack helicopters

On March 24 and 25, Turkish fighter jets carried out eight strikes, targeting the Şehîd Şerîf Resistance Area in Xakurkê region, and the areas of Yekmalê, Girê Kun, Girê Reşîd, Zêvkê, Heftebax, Dêreşê in Garê region.

On March 24 and 25, the Girê Bahar Resistance Area in Şehîd Delîl Western Zap region was bombed 28 times by attack helicopters.

Attacks with heavy weapons, artillery and howitzers

On March 24 and 25, the Turkish army carried out a total of 897 attacks with heavy weapons, artillery and howitzers, targeting the areas of Lolan, Berê Zînê, Kendekola, Sinînê in Xakurkê region 34 times; the areas of Zêvkê, Girê Reşîd, Heftebax, Yekmalê, Mijê, Girgaşê, Girê Kun in Garê region 41 times; the areas of Serê Metîna, Şêlazê, Bêşîlî in Metîna region 203 times; the areas of Girê Amediyê and Girê Bahar in Şehîd Delîl Western Zap region 619 times.
