Guerrillas speak about Çukurca action

Some guerrillas who took part in the Çukurca action, described by the HPG (People's Defence Forces) as a “Revolutionary Operation”, spoke to ANF. The action was carried out on 19 October in the Çukurca region. In fact it was a series of simultaneous attacks which resulted in the death of at least 24 Turkish soldiers.

Guerrillas remarked that the Turkish army was in desperate straits against the guerrilla and said the action was carried out as a response to the isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the state terror against the Kurdish people.

Some of the statements made by guerrillas are as follows;

Mahmut Kobani: “This action which had several justifications was the overflow of the great anger in the guerrilla raised by the ongoing isolation of our leader, the most important of the red lines for us. The attack was a response to the destruction operations carried out against guerrillas, to the genocide of our people and the destruction plan targeting them. As HPG (People’s Defense Forces), we made a decision for Revolutionary People’s War at our sixth conference and we tried to put our decision into practice. The extensive action we carried out action was a step in this regard. Guerrilla had many tactics and applied them victoriously and faultlessly with a deep secrecy. Everybody should know that our acts will continue unless the attacks on our Leadership and our people are ended.”

Eylül Amed: We worked on our victorious act with an attitude of readiness to die if necessary. With the attacks and clashes breaking out afterwards, we dealt a major blow to the enemy by as the phrase goes besieging the Çukurca region and hitting all military points apart from a military post. The number of soldiers in Çukurca is higher than local residents, which means that Çukurca has been occupied and besieged by soldiers. Our act was a great success in such an environment.”

Ruken Cudi: The action group in which I was included targeted the Bilican Post and the hills connected with it. We made comprehensive plans and formed groups on the basis of both protecting our comrades and striking the targets of the enemy. Against our actions, the enemy tried a technical attempt but we protected ourselves performing a responsive, defensive and quick withdrawal since the guerrilla can’t move further after a certain technical point. Our people should know that we will do our part with the spirit of achievement and we will fight until reaching a solution. The rightful side will be the winner of this war.”
