Thousands attended the funeral of Iranian Kurd and HPG (People Defense's Forces) member Mustafa Arvin (Firaz Gever) in Doðubayazýt, a district of Aðrý. Arvin was one of the ten Kurdish guerrillas who lost their life in the clashes with Turkish Army on May 12-14 in the rural areas of Þýrnak’s Uludere region.
For the first time since Mustafa was killed, his father Yasin Arvin spoke about his son. Yasin said to DIHA News Agency that his son had joined the ranks of the PKK because he couldn’t bear the repression by the Iranian regime. The five person Arvin family is from the Iranian town of Mako, and the oldest child was Mustafa.
Yasin, who could hardly control his pain and sorrow, wanted an immediate solution to the Kurdish issue to ease the pain. “Kurdish families have been getting news of the deaths of their sons every day for 30 years, the Kurdish people are being annihilated piece by piece,” said Yasin.
Immediately after getting the news about his son’s death, Yasin
went to the Malatya Forensic Medicine Institute. When he identified his son, he was astonished because he found the dead bodies of Iranian Kurds, Syrian Kurds and Turkish Kurds side by side.
“All powers declared war on the Kurdish people. The time has come for Kurdish unity. Every day we are losing our children in this war. At least we can vote if there is nothing else we can do. Now, you will vote for your children’s deaths if you vote for any candidates except for the independents. We can prevent bloodshed if the number of Kurdish representatives is increased. Otherwise, news of deaths will come to every Kurdish family’s house.
