A delegation from the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria met with regime officials in Damascus to discuss steps toward implementing the agreement concluded between the Democratic Syrian Forces (SDF) and the Damascus regime on March 10.
According to the statement made by the co-spokespersons of the delegation, the first meeting began with the parties getting to know each other. This was followed by negotiations on a joint work plan and feasible mechanisms for the implementation of the agreement provisions in the field.
According to ANHA, the meeting in Damascus took place in a constructive and positive atmosphere. The parties are preparing to issue a joint statement to the public following the meeting.
One of the main topics discussed at the meeting was finding a quick and permanent solution to the issue of education. ANHA reported that the parties agreed on the need to establish joint committees on this matter and on the implementation of the agreement in general.
The delegation from North and East Syria, formed on April 12 for the negotiation process, includes the following names from different ethnic and political groups:
* Foza Yûsif – Member of the PYD (Democratic Union Party) Presidential Council
* Ebid Hamid El Mihbaş – Co-Chair of the Party for the Future of Syria
* Senherîb Bersûm – Co-Chair of the Syriac Union Party
* Ehmed Yûsif – Co-Chair of the Autonomous Administration Finance Council
* Sozdar Hecî – Member of the General Command of the YPJ (Women’s Protection Units)
* Meryem Îbrahîm – Co-Chair of the Social Affairs Council
* Yasir Silêman – Co-Chair of the Peoples’ Democratic Council
The Damascus administration was represented by officials from various ministries and administrative units:
* Mohammad Qanatri (Ministry of Foreign Affairs Deputy Director of the Americas)
* Abdulgani Muhammed (Director of Internal Security at the Aleppo Governorate)
* Masoud Battal (Head of the Afrin File)
* Fewaz El-Ayish (Deputy Minister of Civil Affairs at the Ministry of the Interior)
The visit follows three meetings held in North and East Syria, the first on March 19, the second on April 12, and the last one last week, as part of the parties' efforts to strengthen dialogue and ensure stability in the region by implementing the provisions of the March 10 agreement.
The agreement signed between Mazlum Abdi and Ahmed al-Sharaa on March 10, 2025, provides for a nationwide ceasefire and the integration of SDF forces into the Syrian army. The main points of the agreement are as follows:
* Recognition of the Kurdish community as an integral part of the Syrian state
* Guarantee of citizenship and constitutional rights
* Transfer of oil and natural gas fields and border crossings to state control
* Ceasefire throughout Syrian territory
* Guarantee of the return of displaced Syrians
