The MKG emphasized that women’s journalism is not only about reporting news but also about being the voice of the ignored and preserving social memory. The statement included the following: "As the Mesopotamia Women Journalists Association, we cry out once again: The truth cannot be hidden by pressure on journalists. The more they silence us, the stronger we grow; the more they ban us, the more we write; the more they try to intimidate us, the more we stand in solidarity. Press freedom is only possible with women’s freedom! We will never give up on writing the truth."
