A doctor in Amed enters Parliament for the HDP

Selçuk Mizraklı is one of the first confirmed elected deputies of the HDP

One of the elected deputies of the HDP in the city of Amed (Diyarbakir) is Selçuk Mizraklı, who has been a doctor in Amed for 27 years.

Mızraklı was born in Siverek, province of Urfa in 1963 and moved to Eskişehir due to his father work when he was 3. 
Mizrakli who lived in Eskişehir for 16 years completed his primary and secondary school there. 

After graduating from the Faculty of Medicine, Mizraklı spent his first three years of working life in Ankara and Yozgat, and began practicing medicine in Amed in 1991. 

Mizrakli, who worked as a specialist surgeon in various hospitals of the city for 27 years, as worked for a number of non-governmental organizations in the city, especially the Diyarbakir Medical Chamber. 

Mizraklı, who has been fighting on democratic platforms since the 90s, has been also working with the Democratic Society Congress (DTK) from the year 2000.

As a result of the political genocide operations carried out by the AKP government against the Kurdish people, Mizrakli, was taken into custody in July 2017 due to his DTK activities. 

Mizrakli, who remained in Diyarbakır D Type Prison for about 2 months, was released on 8 September.
