YPJ commemorates Evîn Goyî, vowing to strengthen the struggle

YPJ condemns the triple murder in Paris and commemorates Evîn Goyî, who played a central role as a commander in the fight against ISIS.

The general command of the Women's Defence Units (YPJ) in northern and eastern Syria has described the triple murder in Paris as an "attack on the Kurdish people". The YPJ is convinced that there is no doubt that the Turkish state is complicit in the "massacre" of Emine Kara (Evîn Goyî), M. Şirin Aydın (Mîr Perwer) and Abdurrahman Kızıl.

On Friday, a 69-year-old Frenchman attacked the Kurdish community centre "Centre Culturel De Kurde Paris Ahmet Kaya" in the centre of Paris as well as two nearby Kurdish shops with a firearm. Three people were killed and as many injured. The Kurdish umbrella organisation in France (CDK-F) described the attack as a "terrorist attack", which occurred after numerous Turkish threats. Emine Kara, who had joined the Kurdish liberation movement more than three decades ago, was a member of the executive council of the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) and fought in Rojava in the ranks of the YPJ against the terrorist militia ISIS, was the first victim to be struck down by the attacker. After several shots to her upper body, the attacker allegedly returned and fired more bullets at her.

"The Turkish state, which tries to break the freedom struggle of women and the people with massacres, is the enemy of freedom. Therefore, women and all other genders who sacrifice their lives for the freedom of their people are the target of this fascist government. Turkey is an occupying state and has once again demonstrated to the world its hostility towards women who do not allow themselves to be subjugated and who fight for liberation. The Paris massacre shows this reality in the person of our friend Evîn Goyî. The history of the Turkish state is a history of genocide. Genocide is part of the identity of this state, from its beginnings to the present.

As a Kurdish woman of resistance, comrade Evîn dedicated her entire life to the freedom of women and the people. She was committed to the Kurdish cause in all parts of Kurdistan. When the hordes of the so-called ISIS invaded Rojava, she was immediately on the spot. She did not hesitate for a moment to fulfil her patriotic duty towards her people. She did so in deep solidarity, with a courageous heart - like many other friends who have waged a relentless struggle for the freedom of our peoples everywhere in their homeland. This is exactly why they were targeted by the fascist Erdogan regime.

As YPJ forces, we condemn this massacre, offer our condolences to the families of the martyrs and wish the wounded a speedy recovery. This massacre was directed against the entire Kurdish people and all the oppressed in the person of Evîn Goyî, artist Mîr Perwer and precious patriot Abdurrahman Kızıl. But the love of freedom of Evîn is the love of freedom of the YPJ. We will continue to strengthen our struggle on the basis of the legacy she has left us. We promise to retaliate for the women who have been murdered by fascist rulers."
