YJA Star guerrilla Hêvî Tolhildan laid to rest

YJA Star guerrilla Hêvî Tolhildan, whose real name is Dilan Olğun, was buried by her family in Ipekyolu. Security forces prevented participation beyond the closest family circle.

YJA Star guerrilla Dilan Olğun (Nom de Guerre: Hêvî Tolhildan) fell as martyr on 26 August in the Çemçê area near Kağızman in the northern Kurdish province of Kars while fighting with the Turkish army.

Although the family members gave blood samples for DNA comparison one day after her death, the body was not handed over to them until Tuesday and this after a long fight.

Kars Police Department called the family on Tuesday asking them to pick up the body. The relatives had to wait until late at night. Then Olğun was exhumed from the cemetery of the nameless and buried around midnight in Ipekyolu in the province of Van. The burial took place under a police blockade and only close family members were allowed into the cemetery.

Dilan Olğun (Hêvî Tolhildan) grew up in a family connected with cultural and social values ​​in Van and dreamed of fighting as a free woman in the mountains of Kurdistan since she was a young girl.

The HPG said about her: She developed a mature, humble and enthusiastic personality and realized her childhood dream by joining the guerrilla. With the dynamism and enthusiasm of youth, she attended the training and became a professional guerrilla fighter. Because of her ideological clarity and her military discipline, she quickly became a commander and went back to her home in Northern Kurdistan to fight in Serhad.
