Women in Armenia promoted conference on Abdullah Öcalan

"This conference will call on the UN to urge Turkey to end isolation against Abdullah Öcalan.”

The Armenian Free Women’s Union in Yerevan promoted the Armenian Women’s Conference for Kurdish Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

The conference is attended by Armenian Free Women's Union, Georgian Women's Representation in Armenia, Moscow Kurdish Women's Representation, Kurdistan Committee, Armenian Georgian Minority Women's Movement president, Armenia Greek Minority Women's Movement, Armenia Russian Minority Women's Representation.

'Öcalan is a source of inspiration'

At the press conference on the event, Medya Garzan, member of the Armenian Free Women Union, condemned the forces that 20 years ago carried out the international conspiracy which led to the abduction of Abdullah Öcalan and commended the martyrs.

Garzan said: “The international conspiracy was spoiled by an ideological and political force.” Garzan stated that the conspiracy was also against the Women's Freedom Movement and added: "As a woman, I say that the woman identity should play a leading role by increasing the struggle against fascism in every field. All our work - she added - should be centered on the Leadership. We should develop the struggle against the MHP-AKP fascism everywhere."

Call to the UN 

Armenian writer Losin Topuzyan said: “The genocide experienced by Armenian people in the 20th century is being experienced again, this time against Kurdish people. Kurds will never accept this fascism.” 

Topuzyan added: "This conference will call on the UN to urge Turkey to end isolation against Abdullah Öcalan.”

The President of Iveria, Eteri Somaia, the Head of the Greek Minority Women's Movement, Agabi Hursidyan, the Moscow Kurdish Women Representative Politician and lawyer Maya Amiri, the Georgian Kurdish Women member Gûlnaza Egîd, the Armenian lawyer Aelita Danghyan, and journalist Lianna Mhoyan all demanded freedom for Öcalan.
