Women from all over the world in solidarity with Leyla Güven

“We support Leyla Güven’s demand to end of the isolation on Mr Abdullah Öcalan”.

The ongoing indefinite hunger strike carried out by DTK co-chair and HDP Hakkâri deputy Leyla Güven, has reached day 66.

Güven is demanding the end of the isolation regime imposed on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Support to Güven is coming from all over the world.

The International Dialectic Women's Union, founded by women's organizations, political parties and women's representatives from many different countries, issued a support message for Leyla Güven.

‘End isolation, free Leyla!’

The message begins with the words: “We support Leyla Güven’s demand to end of the isolation on Mr Abdullah Öcalan”.

The message continues: “We are closely following the ongoing arrest of our women comrades in Turkey. They are subjected to torture and undergo trials with baseless allegations in the middle of a chaotic situation.

We feel anger at watching women who are suffering from this situation and Leyla who is carrying out this action.”

Without Leyla something will be missing

In the last part of the message, the women said: “We, as women with the same life and the same claim as Leyla, want to create and build a new world which guarantees an equal place to everyone. We know very well that this world will change with Leyla’s action, as so will women’ struggle. We must strengthen the solidarity with Leyla and make sure she lives. We must not forget that women' struggle without Leyla will be missing something! Leyla must live, Jin Jiyan Azadi!”
