Two days of debate on the future of women in North Syria
Future of North and Northeast Syrian Women is the title of the forum which begun today in the city of Qamishlo.
The Forum answered the called made by the United Nations and is organised with the support of the Syrian Women's Council (SKM), Congreya Star and Common Ground Organization.
Women activists and non-governmental organizations have been invited to the forum which will last two days and is taking place at the Sehara Salonu.
Issues such as opportunities for women and which future for women's politics will be debated.
The opening speech was made by Syrian Women Council General Coordinator, Lina Berekat. “Such forums - she said - are of great importance for women works”.
Berekat pointed out that “it is especially important to organise such debates and work from the point of view of a territory at war. First of all, women's defense institutions should be taken as the basis of the discussion. Women can protect themselves and their families in the same way that they are benefited from their law”.
The forum will debate how women's issues and problems can be dealt with whether in the social, economic, political, defense and security fields.
