‘Women and the Leader’ conference begins in Sulaymaniyah

'Women and the Leader' conference organized by Kurdistan Free Women's Movement began in Sulaymaniyah.

Solutions to the political, economical and social problems women face in south Kurdistan will be discussed on the basis of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan's paradigm in the conference.
The conference, in which 150 delegates participate, began in the Talari Hüner Conference Hall in Sulaymaniyah at 10:00 this morning and will last one day.

Conference preparation committee member Shehen Mihemed stated that they organized the conference at a time when critical political, economical and social crises are taking place in South Kurdistan, and their goal is to draw attention to this crisis. Shehen Mihemed said “Women are the biggest victims of these crises. The goal of these crises is to destroy women's will. Women are belittled and their strength and potential are ignored. The goal of this is to end women morally.”

Shehen said that they will approach the problems from Öcalan's perspective on women, and made the following statement:

“We will discuss these problems with the perspective and ideas of Öcalan. Öcalan draws attention to these problems that take place globally, and offers women's freedom as the solution. He emphasizes that these problems can be solves through women's freedom.

We aim to discuss these problems through the 'Women and the Leader' slogan or Leader Öcalan's philosophy. We are aware that the solution of these deep-rooted problems is difficult. However, we have the strength to discuss these economical and social problems and offer solutions. Our goal is to put the solution of the problems mentioned during the conference into practice and help begin the efforts for this purpose. Our aim is that women lead the way on the issue of solutions.”
