Women journalists reported 39 cases of child molestation and 8 children were killed by rapists.
According to the data provided by women journalists in first 8 months of 2017 a total of 242 women were killed.
These figures are thought to be much higher as journalists only report killing which are reported by the media.
Turkey saw a sharp increase in gender-related violence and so called “honor killings” since AKP came to power in 2002. Women activists criticize AKP and especially Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan of promoting a male-dominant society.
