Van Governor İbrahim Taşyapan, who was appointed as trustee to Van Municipality after the arrest of Co-mayor Bekir Kaya, appointed a man to lead the municipality’s women’s council.

Taşyapan had recently closed the municipality’s women’s center, closed down the Municipal Bureau of Struggle against Violence against Women, and canceled the municipality’s free transportation for women.

Woman employees noted that the trustee’s policies target them, and called for an end to such policies.
