The European Kurdish Women's Movement TJK-E held its fifth congress on June 27-28.

TJK-E said, "The challenge is to stand against isolation and the massacre of women."

The final declaration, published after the fifth session, present all discussions and decisions taken at the congress. According to the Declaration, the movement should continue to work on the areas of discussion left uncompleted during the congress, while at the same time it should focus on the construction of the democratic confederalism system.

Some of the more important conclusions were the following:

"We have reached decisions that will allow us to meet the new period struggle.

For two days we have been engaged in important discussions on the policies and actions of the patriarchal system and the consequences of attacks on women and what resistance methods should be."

The congress has discussed the isolation imposed on Kurdish people leader Abdullah Ocalan and has resolved to continue enhancing the fight against the isolation regime.

The document also recalled the importance of establishing a confederal system among the organizations established in Germany, Switzerland, France, Belgium and Sweden.

And underlined that organizations in Switzerland, Germany and Sweden have made an important step towards acquiring institutionalization and political identity. "These developments - said the document - have contributed to the women's knitting of the confederal system, but we are still unable to reach all the social segments of the society."

The declaration added: "We are aware that we are going to move the new struggle to an organization that has achieved educational and operational integrity. For this purpose, our main goal will be to expand the organization. We will continue to organize the confederal system by establishing the commune, council and initiatives in the new period, strengthening the content of existing institutions.”
