The Kurdish Women’s Movement in Europe, TJK-E, issued a written statement about the isolation in Imralı and the hunger strikes and called on everyone to join the march in Brussels on Wednesday.
“Behind isolation - said the statement - are not only the Turkish state and the AKP-MHP fascist regime, but also the forces responsible for the 15 February 1999 conspiracy [which led to the abduction of Abdullah Öcalan].”
Response to European institutions
"The most concrete evidence of this - continued the statement - is the silence of the EU states, the Council of Europe, European Court of Human Rights, CPT and so on. The fact that these states remain insensitive to hunger strike actions carried out from Maxmur to Canada, from Wales to Germany and to the Netherlands shows how false, hypocritical and self-interested they are when it comes to really defending the values of humanity, democracy and freedom.”
The statement continued: “The message of all the hunger strikers is clear: this isolation is against the Kurdish people, democratic forces, women, all of us, and we must therefore raise freedom resistance against it.”
Call to join Brussels March
At the end of the statement, TJK-E made a call to join the march in Brussels on Wednesday.
"We, Kurds, women and all democratic and freedom forces can be the answer if we raise our actions to write this historic resistance. This is the basis for the march to be held in Brussels, the capital of the European Union on 27 February. We urge everyone to join it."
