Turkish National Intelligence Agency (MIT) has Kurdish politicians on its target, a Swiss police official said on the condition of anonymity.

Speaking to ANF Turkish service, the police official said that MIT is using mosques and consulates to organize in the country. “They want to target the Kurdish diaspora” the official said.

The official cited the activities of MIT in Germany and said that the intelligence agency has a similar level of activity in Switzerland as well. The official pointed out the consulates and mosques as the centres where MIT is operational.

“The people who we think are working for MIT are brought to Switzerland under the legal protection of some institutions (consulates). Therefore we cannot engage directly, to do which we need solid evidence” the official said.

The official called on Kurdish politicians to inform the police as soon as they think they are being followed or even if they feel under threat.

Police official said that they are aware that MIT has Kurdish politicians on its target, therefore, they think the security of politicians like Remzi Kartal and Zübeyir Aydar is important.

Switzerland hosts a large Kurdish community that is usually targeted by Turkish nationalists and AKP supporters.
