Women called on the international community to stop the Turkish state’s attacks against Afrin and Rojava.
Several Swedish women associations and groups among which were the Feminist Initiative, the Left Party, the Jineology Committee, the Jinen Ciwanen Azad (Free Young Women), the Sara Women's Union, the Amara Kurdish Women's Assembly, the Rojava Committees, the Syndicalist Youth Federation (SUF) and the Rainbow Kurds promoted a solidarity with Rojava action in Stockholm.
The women condemned the attacks of the Turkish state against Afrin and Rojava and called on the Swedish government to urge Turkey to stop these attacks.
The action took place in the central Mariatorget Square.
Ayşe Göktepe, who spoke on behalf of the Sara Women's Union after a minute of silence in tribute to the YPJ fighters who lost their lives in Rojava, said that Kurdish women in Rojava together with women from other peoples are proving that another world is possible.
Göktepe added that the system in Rojava is a feminist system and that women are involved at any stage and level in the construction and governance of the territory and are in every area of society. "We are talking about women's rights here, and women in Rojava are actually making these rights a reality. All decisions are taken with women’s participation. Women in Rojava have written history".
Speaking on behalf of SUF, Karina Perrson said that Kurdish women in Rojava have shown how to establish a fair and democratic system. "We want to translate the democratic system set up in Rojava here as well", she said.
The women called on the Swedish government and the international community to stop the Turkish government’s attempts of crashing the democratic system in Rojava.
