'Sociology of Freedom' Conference in Raqqa

Organised by the Zenûbiya Women's Community, the 'Sociology of Freedom' Conference is being held in Raqqa with the participation of 250 delegates.

Within the scope of the "Freedom for Leader Abdullah Öcalan and a Political Solution to the Kurdish Question" campaign, the Zenûbiya Women's Community is holding the "Sociology of Freedom" Conference in Raqqa with the participation of 250 delegates.

In addition to the Zenûbiya Women's Community, the conference is attended by the Assembly of Martyrs' Families, Xedra Idlibi Assembly, Young Women's Union, women members of the Internal Security Forces and the co-chairs of the Confederation of Democratic Society Organisation.

In the conference consisting of two sessions, the themes of "The Sociology of Freedom and Social Cases" and "Freedom behind the walls of İmralı" are being discussed.

Delivering the opening speech, Jiyan Dêrik, Advisor of Zenûbiya Women's Community, emphasised the importance of women's revolution and uprisings in Rojava (West), Bakur (North) and Rojhilatê (East) Kurdistan.

Stating that women have faced many difficulties and these challenges continue, Jiyan Dêrik noted that women's participation in this conference shows their determination in the search for freedom and their stance against all borders.

Jiyan Dêrik referred to Abdullah Öcalan's book 'Sociology of Freedom', written in 2009 in the Imrali prison, and drew attention to the role of Öcalan's ideas and philosophy in social transformation.

A final declaration is expected to be published at the end of the conference.
