Actions to mark March 8, International Women's Day began in Raqqa with an event in Hizêmê region. The event was attended by dozens of women from the region.
Xaliya Kecwan of Raqqa Women's Administration made a statement about the importance of International Women’s Day.
Kecwan celebrated the women martyrs, the struggle for freedom and the 8 March of all Syrian women. She recalled that women have been subjected to all forms of violence due to the male mentality throughout history.
Kecwan stressed that Syrian women who are the most exposed to physical and spiritual violence, are still resisting.
“Based on the March 8th, the Northern Syrian women set an example for all Syrian women with their heroism in the political, social and military fields.”
