PAJK: To become Viyan is to destroy the isolation

PAJK Coordination commemorated Viyan Soran, who set herself on fire to protest the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan. "Viyan’s self-immolation is an attitude to destroy the isolation," PAJK said.

PAJK (Kurdistan Free Women's Party, Partiya Azadiya Jin a Kurdistan) released a statement commemorating Viyan Soran, who was martyred on February 1, 2006. PAJK pointed to the current process and stated that the conspirators are in a "dirty cooperation to eliminate the gains of the Kurdistan revolution".

PAJK's statement reads as follows:

"On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the martyrdom of the great insurgent Viyan Soran, we gratefully commemorate all the martyrs of the Kurdistan cause. Our struggle to realize the goals of our comrades who gave the message to the conspiratorial forces to break the Imrali system with the motto "You cannot darken our sun" in the person of Comrade Viyan, who is a great comrade of Leader Apo and a valuable pioneer of the women's freedom struggle, continues.

Capitalist and conspiratorial forces captured Leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan) in an international conspiracy. This conspiracy has been going on for 22 years in the person of Leader Apo, targeting all women, the Kurdish people and the peoples of the Middle East. The forces of capitalist modernity have implemented this conspiracy to destroy the values of free society and Democratic Modernity. This system, which is on the verge of collapse, has helped this conspiracy prolong its life. But the historic resistance of Leader Apo, the truth of free women and society have frustrated the conspiracy. Conspiratorial forces defeated by Leader Apo's resistance have therefore deepened the isolation imposed on him. The attitude of Comrade Viyan and all the martyrs against the conspiratorial forces is the continuation of Leader Apo's historic resistance and struggle.

Comrade Viyan has internalized Leader Apo's philosophy in her own person from the moment she turned her direction to the free mountains. Comrade Viyan's quest for freedom became a symbol of free life for women in Southern Kurdistan. Comrade Viyan was a pioneering figure and set an example in the development and preservation of national memory on the basis of the right comradeship established with Leader Apo on the line of free women in our struggle. At the same time, the attitude of Comrade Viyan became the name of a right comradeship established with Leader Apo and free life against the reactionary mentality and masculinity. Comrade Viyan always demonstrated an exemplary struggle, along with Apo's ideological line and militant stance, even in the most difficult moments of the struggle.

We, as the women's freedom movement and the Kurdish people, are going through a difficult period of historic resistance. Faced with a challenging period of the struggle, we are entering February and the 15th anniversary of comrade Viyan. In line with the occupiers of Kurdistan and their collaborators, the conspiratorial forces are in dirty cooperation seeking to destroy the gains of the Kurdistan revolution. The Turkish state, with its fascist and colonial mentality, has been carrying out a dirty policy primarily to eliminate the gains of the Kurdish people in Southern Kurdistan and Rojava. The agreement targeting our people in Shengal, the embargo on Maxmur, the Iranian regime's pressure on Eastern Kurdistan and women, and the genocidal attacks in Northern Kurdistan and the arrest of women pioneers are the continuation of the conspiracy. The leading resistance of the female guerrillas in Heftanin against these genocidal attacks has been a great response to the invaders. The companions of Martyr Viyan are resisting in all positions with the spirit of comrade Viyan with a steel will, great hope and courage.

The resistance of our people led by women is the attitude of Viyan. Her move is an attitude to destroy the isolation. Viyan’s attitude is the honor and values of the people of resistance.

We call on all Kurdish and Middle Eastern women, defenders of democracy and intellectuals, especially women in Southern Kurdistan, to make Leader Apo's physical freedom the reason for their resistance. This requires an effective and united struggle. The struggle of women for the physical freedom of Leader Apo is also a struggle against women being slaves. In a world where male mentality eliminates freedom, peace and equality, we must deepen the struggle around the ideology of women's freedom and in the light of the ecological and democratic society paradigm.

We repeat our promise to fulfill the physical freedom of Leader Apo, who was the aim of Viyan and all martyrs, by commemorating all the martyrs in the person of Comrade Viyan."
