Kurdish women living in Europe will meet to discuss developments in Kurdistan and the Middle East.
In a written statement the National Kurdish Women's Workshop Preparatory Committee informed that on 20 and 21 May the European National Kurdish Women's Workshop will take place.
The Workshop will see the participation of women representatives of TJK-E, PUK, Gorran, Komala, Yekgirtu and KDP, women from Yaresan and Feyli, Yazidi Women's Movement (TAJE), Kurdistan Islamic Community (CIK), Kongra Star, KNK women members, Kurdistan women's associations, academicians, parliamentarians and independent figures.
The statement said that “The work of redesigning the hegemonic powers in the Middle East and in the area of Kurdistan is aimed at destroying the values created by peoples and especially women. For hundreds of years, massacres, plundering and occupations in the area of Kurdistan have been experienced and are still been experienced today. Women are the first to experience the worse of every war and invasion.
The occupation of Kurdistan aims not only at physical occupation of all peoples and women. At the same time, it aims at destroying historical memory along with cultural, religious and underground as well as aboveground riches.
In Shengal, in Rojava, in Sine, in Duhok, in Cizre, in Sur, in Nusaybin, and more recently in Afrin, the invasion represents the continuation of the daily annihilation policies always implemented.
In Bakur (North Kurdistan), the repression of people passed through the international conspiracy and imperial isolation ideology imposed on Abdullah Öcalan; in Rojhilat the executions carried out especially of women, in Duhok and in Başur (South Kurdistan) in general, the Yazidi society and women in Shengal and the massacres in Rojava: all these are the product of the same massacre mentality.
The fact that World War III is based in Kurdistan gives us a concrete indication of the kind of war concept we are facing.
In Kurdistan, the variety of people's beliefs is seen as the greatest obstacle and danger to the life of the nation-state paradigm. At the same time, despite all the attacks, there has always been a line of rebellion and resistance against the system”.
The statement continued underlining that “women are the most affected by the policies implemented to destroy Kurds. The problems of Kurdish society living in Europe and the consequences of immigration, as well as the assimilation policies of the Kurdish peoples and the Kurdistan, are further burden”.
The statement also said: “The struggle and resistance of the Kurdish women to counter these attacks have strengthened the hope of creating alternative free life all over the world and has universalized the struggle. However, since the Kurdish women's struggle has been universalized, it has also given us a historical mission because it provides the opportunity both for unity among Kurds and among women. Kurds living in Europe also become a component of a field in four parts of Kurdistan”.
It is to discuss all these issues that women will come together in the workshop organised on 20 and 21 May.
