On Friday, a Jineology seminar was held at ATE union in in Buenos Aires, Argentine. 93-year-old Mitra Acuna de Baravelle, one of Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo, also attended the seminar which drew intense interest.
The event organized by the Women's Committee in Solidarity with Kurdistan began with the opening speech of Soledad de Battista, member of the solidarity committee.
Battista stated that their purpose of carrying Jineology to that continent is to explain that the struggle of Kurdish women does not have a military aspect alone. Stating that the Kurdish women are active in social construction, Battista pointed out that Jineology is a future perspective for all women.
Then, Miranda Acuna de Baravelle, a mother of Plaza Del Mayo, greeted the participants. Baravelle, who doesn’t leave the struggle even though she is 93 years old, made a short speech.
Saying that her first contact with the Kurdish women was in 1996, Baravelle continued her speech as follows; “Saturday Mothers, who are fighting for the people disappeared in custody, started their action based upon our experiences. But the attacks of fascism never stopped as they carried out uninterrupted resistance against increasing attacks. I had said during a meeting before, ‘Once women begin a journey, there is no way back, and be afraid of them’. This determination describes the Kurdish women. The world of women is a beautiful world where there is no pain nor violence, but only pure love in this world. They are organized, flowing and wonderful women.”
Speeches were followed by a cinevision show featuring Sakine Cansız on the development dialect of the Kurdish women's movement and the leading figure of the Kurdish people.
Afterwards, the developmental dialect of the Kurdish women's movement and why Jineology is a necessity was explained during a presentation by Jineology Committee.
