Some 271 women delegates reached Kobanê from all Euphrates region to join the Third Congress of Kongreya Star.
The Third Congress of Kongreya Star Euphrates region has begun on Sunday at the Baqî Xido Culture and Art Center in Kobanê.
Some 271 delegates from the Euphrates region are taking part in the congress, organized under the slogan "We will transform the women’s revolution into social revolution with the spirit of the Resistance of the Age".
The congress is attended by Kongreya Star spokeswoman, Evîn Siwêd, President of Kobanê Canton Women's Council Emîne Bekir, co-chair of Kobanê Canton Executive Council Bêrîvan Hesen and institutional representatives from TEV-DEM (Democratic Society Movement) in the Euphrates region.
A giant poster of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan was hanged in the hall where the Congress is taking place together with flags of Kongreya Star and YPJ (Women’s Defense Units).
The Congress began with a minute’s silence after which the presidency of 5 people was elected.
The opening speech was delivered by Kongreya Star spokeswoman, Evîn Siwêd, who underlined how women are attacked in every area of life.
"We organize Rojava women against attack and conspiracy on our living spaces. Today’s free and safe environment in Rojava and Northern Syria have been achieved thanks to Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and our martyrs”.
Reaffirming that the winner of the war in Syria would be the organized women, Evîn Siwêd greeted all women who are resisting in Northern Syria.
After the opening speeches, the yearly activity report of Kongreya Star was read and evaluated.
