Kevana Zêrîn Culture and Arts Movement: 4 April is a day of freedom, existence, and "xwebûn"

Kevana Zêrîn Culture and Arts Movement defines 4 April, Abdullah Öcalan's birthday, as a day of freedom, existence, and "xwebûn" (being oneself).

The Kurdish people are preparing to celebrate 4 April, Abdullah Öcalan's birthday. The Kevana Zêrîn Women's Culture Movement Coordination issued a message marking the occasion.

The statement said: "Giving meaning to time and space is an expression of human intelligence and creativity. Space and time gain identity, become symbols, and transform into the strongest stance accordingly. In fact, space and time transcend themselves and break their limits. In this context, the small village of Amara in Kurdistan’s history and the date of 4 April, when a boy was born in this village, have taken on deep meanings in the history of the Kurdish people and all peoples. Because on April 4, the fate of a people—between existence and non-existence—changed around Leader Apo. He established the stance and choice of freedom. This stance and choice of freedom became a source of inspiration and strength for other peoples as well. That is why peoples have given meaning to the cradle of Amara to 4 April as a part of their own existence, extending this meaning on a global scale."

However, added the statement, "it was women who shaped their existence most profoundly around this meaning. The women’s freedom movement was built through the birth of Abdullah Öcalan, gaining the greatest awareness and power of existence. For this reason, women have chosen the name Amara for themselves and have planted life trees everywhere as a symbol of creation on April 4. Around these trees, they have chanted the magical formula: ‘Jin, Jiyan, Azadî’ (Woman, Life, Freedom). This is why Leader Apo’s birthday has become increasingly widespread each year, with women attributing meaning to the day as their own birth."

Kevana Zêrîn Culture and Arts Movement views 4 April as "the weaving of the art of life based on women’s freedom. 4 April marks the birth of the art of our existence and xwebûn (being oneself). We celebrate our birthday with all peoples, women, and freedom-loving communities. By planting life trees, they offer their lands the most beautiful gift. Because we know that the greatest gift is the creation of a beautiful country and the construction of noble identities. With this enthusiasm for creation, we welcome and celebrate 4 April as the day of freedom, existence, and xwebûn."
