International fighters of YPJ join the defense of Afrin

“Erdogan's dictatorship already caused so many deaths, the international community must condemn his policies and break all relationships with his fascist government.”

The international fighters of the YPJ stated that they will take their place in the resistance against the attacks of the Turkish state against Northern Syria.

“We the international fighters of the YPJ will take our place in the resistance against the attacks that the Turkish State is conducting against Northern Syria. We came to Northern Syria to join the women's revolution, to support and learn from the people here, to participate in building up the Democratic Confederation of Northern Syria, and to fight against Daesh (ISIS).

YPJ was at the forefront of this war but the imminent defeat of Daesh is not the end of our fight. In Syria many groups are trying to threaten democratic society. Ahrar al Sham and Al Qaeda are still present in the region, they might not be spreading videos on the web of their cruelties but they are no different from Daesh. These are members of the so called Free Syrian Army that Turkey supports, while sending the jets that are killing civilians in Efrin.

We ask for all people to spread their voices against these attacks and for the governments of the International Coalition against Daesh to give Erdogan an ultimatum and do everything they can to defend the people of Northern Syria.

Country members of the International Coalition can't stay silent and turn their backs on those who bravely fought for freedom and led to victory. Erdogan's dictatorship already caused so many deaths, the international community must condemn his policies and break all relationships with his fascist government. We also call for Turkey's population to speak out against this massacre.

We consider the attacks of the Turkish State to be an attack on our freedom as women. For the past seven years a women's revolution has been built up here, of which the YPJ is only a small part. We have taken our places in all areas of life, restoring the equality and empowerment which is the historical right of every woman. When we take up our weapons against the Turkish State and its puppets we are not only fighting alongside the people of Efrin but also with all the women of the world.

Northern Syria shows us that a truly equal and democratic society is possible if we fight for it, and we will.
