Important decisions made at the Kongreya Star Congress in Kobane

The Third Congress of the women’s organisation Kongreya Star ended with a busy plan for the future.

The Third Kongreya Star Congress of the Euphrates region came to an end in Kobane. 

271 delegates and guests came together united by the slogan "We will transform the women’s revolution into social revolution with the spirit of the Resistance of the Age“. 

After the opening speeches an annual report was presented and submitted to the delegates attention. 

The organizational situation, the problems faced by women, criticisms on many topics were debated.

A video was shown and then the Congress ended with these conclusions: 

“The freedom of the Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan is the foundation of the women's struggle. For this we will carry out the work of spreading Öcalan's philosophy and ideas among all segments of society and women”.

As to future plans and practical issues, the Congress agreed to:

“Open a Women's Academy in Girê Spi Canton; open women's communes in all regions; set up education circuits for women, young people; support the liberation of Afrin; establish women's communes and develop women's economy”.

The Congress also promoted the role of women in the field of defense as well as the need to strengthen political, ideological and mainstream education circles.

On the agenda was also the election of the next coordination team. 

Sara Xelîl, Zehra Berkel, Hele Umer, Almaz Romi and Dilan Hesen were elected as members of the Kongreya Star Euphrates region coordination. 

In addition, 40 women were elected as members of the Council.

Kongreya Star member Peyman Aydin delivered the closing speech of the Congress. 

"Today we have lived a historic day. Women discussed about many issues of their concern and took decisions on many important issues and future work”.
