The activities of the Kurdish women's movement in Colombia began on 9 February aimed at promoting Jineology and attracted great interest and curiosity.
The activities organized by the Women’s Collective of the Colombia Solidarity Committee, were joined by Zilan Diyar, member of the Jineology Committee.
The first of the activities saw the participation of 80 women from different collectives in the autonomous center Rete Jin Sabana, where an alternative economy model was developed.
The first day of education was dedicated to the history of the Kurdish women's movement in the last 40 years, women organisation, struggle, party and confederalism.
The second day was dedicated to the conceptual, theoretical and institutional framework of Jineology.
More than 120 women participated in the second event organized by the women's cultural center, Redada, on 11 February.
In the activity carried out in the form of a question and answer, a discussion was held on the new methods of self-defense and the struggle through women's identity.
A very crowded seminar was held on Wednesday in Bogota at the Camilo Torres hall of the National University Faculty of Law.
The seminar titled ‘Kurdish women's movement and Jineology’ started with a brief presentation by the members of the Solidarity Committee. Approximately 700 people joined the seminar.
Speaking at the seminar, Zilan Diyar referred to the hunger strikes that spread from Kurdistan to Europe in the 20th anniversary of the international conspiracy that led to the capture of Öcalan. She talked about the long walks to Strasbourg and said that all these actions are demanding freedom of Öcalan.
“Reber (Leader) Apo - said Diyar – has led a nation on the brink of annihilation to the level of leading the revolutionary movements in the world.
Diyar also spoke of the achievements of the women freedom movement and said they could only be reached by establishing a link between social science and revolution.
Following the screening of a documentary compiled with Sakine Cansız's narratives, the seminar ended with a questions and answers session.
After the seminar, the participants conveyed messages of solidarity to the hunger strikers.
