Kurds have gathered outside the court where the first hearing on the murder of Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şaylemez was scheduled to be held today.
French authorities had announced that the first hearing on the murder of PKK founding member Sakine Cansız (Sara), KNK Paris representative Fidan Doğan (Rojbin) and Youth Movement member Leyla Şaylemez (Ronahi), who had been massacred in Paris on January 9, 2013, would be held on January 23. The fate of the hearing remains unknown after the announced death of gunman Ömer Güney in mid December, 2016.
Kurds have gathered in front of the courthouse in Paris today to urge the French state and judiciary to ensure the exposure and punishment of those responsible for the murder of Sakine, Fidan and Leyla. The protest demonstration at the Chatlet Square was joined by hundreds despite the cold weather.
Speaking here, Kurdish Women's Movement Member Zozan Serhat and CDK-F Co-chair Cemile Renkliçay stated the followings:
"We know very well who ordered and assisted this massacre in Paris. Many other similar political murders committed in France before were extended over a period of time and left abortive. However, we will never allow this massacre to face the same fate. The French state is also guilty in the murder of the three Kurdish women. We will be insistent more than ever in order for light to be shed on this case, and we will enhance our protests to this end."
