Delegation of EP members and French lawyers visits North-East Syria

Members of the European Parliament and French lawyers assessed opportunities for cooperation in the areas of humanitarian aid, law, and human rights in North and East Syria.

A delegation consisting of members of the European Parliament (EP) and representatives of the Lawyers Without Borders (ASF) from France visited the Foreign Relations Department of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES).

The delegation was welcomed by the co-chair of Foreign Affairs Department, Ilham Ehmed, and Executive Council member Xalid Îbrahîm. During the visit, the parties talked about humanitarian aid, law, and human rights, as well as ways to work together in these areas. They especially focused on strengthening the justice system and improving human rights.

The delegation included the following:

Mounir Satouri: Member of the European Parliament from France, Chair of the Human Rights Committee, lawyer at the Paris Bar.

Emilie Moreno: Chair of the Human Rights Committee of the National Council of French Lawyers.

Fabienne Sevran: President of the Fraternité Générale Association

Marie Doss: Lawyer at the Paris Bar, member of ASF

Matthieu Yagard: Lawyer at the Paris Bar, representative of ASF

During the meeting, the parties discussed ways to resolve issues related to justice and human rights and explored opportunities for future cooperation.
