Amargi Kobane is a Kurdish women fighter among YPJ ranks. She fought against ISIS gangs in various fronts in Rojava and now she is on the frontline in Raqqa

Amargi is from Kobane. She joined the ranks of resistance in 2011 and fought on various fronts in Rojava. Now she is taking the fight to ISIS in Raqqa.

When Amargi felt the responsibility to take arms as a Kurdish women it was 2011. YPG and YPJ wasn’t even formed then. She was born to a family with a tradition of resistance. Her three siblings are now among the ranks of Syrian Democratic Forces.

Amargi lost one sibling and a cousin during Kobane resistance against ISIS. Therefore she is furious when she is fighting with ISIS. She is always on the first line of combat and among the most brave women who are bringing the fight to ISIS which is notorious for their barbarity and cruelty.

“Women develops consciousness about freedom during fighting. Fighting in Raqqa demands a very strong will. In Kobane they (ISIS) wanted to destroy the will of people and especially women. They wanted to destroy everything. In Aleppo, Minbic, Kobane and in all of North Syria they were planning to destroy lives of people. But from Kobane to Raqqa we stood against it and we are making gains step by step” she said.

Amargi said that women can only be free if they struggle and resist and with this awareness women fights in Raqqa and other parts of Northern Syria.

“We will announce good news of Raqqa’s liberation in the near future” Amargi said.
