Nuriye Gulmen, the academic who staged a 324 days hunger strike demanding her job back, after being dismissed under the Decree Law (KHK) implemented after the 15 July coup, was taken into custody.
Nuriye Gulmen had gone on hunger strike with teacher Semih Özakça in Ankara's central Yuksel Avenue. Their request was simple: "I want my job back", she demands after being dismissed under the Decree Law which hit workers in their thousands, after the 15 July coup attempt.
Gulmen managed to tweet before being taken into custody: "I was told there is an arrest warrant issued against me. I'm being taken to a police station ".
People's Law Office confirmed in their Twitter account: "Our client, Nuriye Gulmen, was taken to the detention center immediately after being forced off the Ankara airport shuttle service".
