The Democratic Autonomous Administration Migration Bureau issued an urgent call for aid from international institutions for tens of thousands of Afrin residents who have had to migrate to the Shehba Desert due to the invasion and genocidal attacks by the Turkish state that have continued for the last 56 days.

The statement says the invading Turkish army and the gangs they gathered have attacked Afrin barbarically for 56 days and stresses: “The international community is silent in the face of the Turkish state attacking civilians.”

The statement continues with:

“For the last week, the invading Turkish state has barbarically bombed with fighter jets and artilleries the Afrin city center where hundreds of thousands of civilians reside. These attacks are geared towards forcing the civilian peoples to move away. The invading army deliberately targets place like health centers and bakeries that provide vital needs for civilians. Due to the ongoing attacks, tens of thousands of Afrin residents have had to migrate. The migrating civilians are faced with a great tragedy.

In the bombings on Afrin city center for the lat two days, dozens of civilians, most of whom are women and children, have been massacred and hundreds more have been wounded. The wounded citizens are receiving treatment in medical facilities in the city center.

We are urgently calling on international legal organizations to condemn these barbaric attacks against Afrin and to support the tens of thousands of civilians on their way to the Shehba desert. There are thousands of children, elderly people and wounded people in the Shehba desert with no food or water.”
