Communes in Shehba engaged in aid deliveries to Afrin refugees

The Communes are providing food and other products to refugees every fortnight.

The citizens of Afrin who were forced to leave their homes because of the occupation carried out by the Turkish army and its mercenary allies, last March, have settled in the Canton of Shehba.

Here they continue to organize and work with the communes and council as they used to do in Afrin before the invasion.

In Shehba camps and villages, the communal and council authorities meet and provide material and spiritual support to the citizens.

Councils are providing food and various products twice a month through the communes. On Wednesday, the communes delivered food aid to the village of Kefer Qaris in district of Fafînê, Shehba.

Kefer Qaris Village Commune Member Yusuf Xelî stated that after the occupation carried out by the Turkish army and its mercenary allies, Afrin people had to emigrate and have formed a commune and council to get people organised again in Shehba.

"Today we have delivered 107 food packages to people who needed it”, said Xelîl, adding that they are delivering food and other products to families every fortnight.

The communes operating in the region have been the first to guarantee emergency aid delivery to people coming from Afrin, long before the international aid agencies finally sent humanitarian aid.

The people of Afrin called on all aid agencies to fulfil their responsibility and respond to the refugees’ necessities.
