The General Command of Women's Defense Units (YPJ) issued a written statement on the occasion of the 3rd anniversary of the Qereçox Massacre.

The statement pointed out that the historical gains in the current process were achieved paying a heavy price and it was emphasized that all kinds of attacks were frustrated with the perspective of a free woman and the solidarity of the peoples.

The statement pointed out that the YPJ ended the ISIS darkness with great resistance and added: "YPJ-YPG and SDF ended the brutal attacks of ISIS mercenaries. The Turkish state attacked the Qereçox mountain on 24 April 2017. With this attack, it was clear that the massacre attempts against the Kurdish people would be made by the state with great technique, not by the front organizations like ISIS. .

We lost dozens of our friends, who had resisted with great sacrifices in Serêkaniyê, Kobanê,  Afrin in the Qereçox attack. Each of them turned into symbols.

Friends who had taken part in the resistance of Kobanê with a resistance spirit were Ararat, Jiyan, Rustem. Our friends Şilan Botan, Haqi Bagok and Rewan Genco, who had exposed to the world the occupying forces actions with their lenses, were also martyred.

Comrades Nuda, Sozdar, Awaz, Zilan, Destan, Arjin, and Silan Kobanê who had served their people in many parts of the country also fell martyrs. Each took on great responsibilities for human resistance."

The statement continued: "States and international conspiratorial forces occupied Afrin, Tal Abyad and Serêkaniyê, led by the Turkish state. Undoubtedly, the invaders wanted to occupy the whole of North and East Syria. However, thanks to the resistance of our people, they could not reach their goals. The resistance reached the world.

Threats and occupation attacks against our people are still continuing. For this reason, all our resistance areas should be on the alert about invasion attacks. Today is the third anniversary of the Qereçox massacre.

We will never forget this massacre in which we lost dozens of friends. As YPJ, we will demand the responsible account for these massacres. We will take our revenge from these invaders in the presence of the whole world. We reiterate our promise to build a free life for all our heroic martyrs, our people and women, and for our Qereçox martyrs."
