Turkish attacks on Maxmur continue with or without guerrillas!

Turkey continues its attacks against Maxmur under the pretext of PKK and YJA Star guerrillas. However, the main reason for the attacks is not the guerrillas because civilians were targeted again less than a year after the guerrilla withdrawal from Maxmur.

The Turkish state has been continuing its attacks against the Şehîd Rustem Cûdî Refugee Camp (Maxmur) for years. The residents of Maxmur have been resisting these attacks for years. The Kurds are a people in the grip of genocide and no one should deceive themselves by resorting to excuses. The Turkish state has never disclosed the facts to the public and has always concealed its goals and intentions. Therefore, everyone should be able to see this reality and defend themselves against these attacks accordingly! Where does the enemy get its source? The answer to this question can be deep and long, but the most basic and main source comes from intolerance. In other words, if there is extreme hostility against you somewhere, you should know that there is serious intolerance against you.

That is, if this intolerance against you continues without any reason and without any blame, then it will be understood that the problem is not with you but with the other person. In other words, the problem is with the one who is hostile to you. For this reason, we can take the hostility of the occupying Turkish state against the Kurdish people as an example. In other words, entering a village for no reason, without any right or authority, and persecuting the people there! This is the greatest intolerance. As it is known, this oppression, attacks, torture and dirty policies of the Turkish state were present not only in the villages but everywhere. In fact, in the latest examples seen on televisions, agencies, news and digital media, it is seen that the Turkish state does not even tolerate the Kurdish language, Kurdish songs and dance. In other words, in addition to physical attacks on people, cultural and spiritual attacks are also being carried out.

The occupation is not only about land and space, but also about cultural genocide

In the face of these crimes by the Turkish state, the Kurdish people were constantly forced to migrate. Their villages were destroyed, burnt and plundered. Despite the migration, the intolerance of the Turkish state towards the Kurdish people continues. The most concrete example of this is the Şehîd Rustem Cûdî Refugee Camp. Thousands of people who left their villages and lands and came to Maxmur due to the hostility, oppression, persecution, torture and attacks of the fascist state are still exposed to the attacks of the fascist Turkish state. This situation shows that the occupation is not only about land and space, but also about cultural genocide. The people of Maxmur may have left their hometown, but they still protect and defend their culture. The Turkish state does not see migration as enough, it wants to uproot the truth of the people. Since it cannot completely eliminate them physically, it wants to destroy and dissolve them culturally. Therefore, it continues its cultural and physical attacks. In other words, even if the Kurds go to the moon, the Turkish state will continue its attacks. The Turkish state wants to eradicate the Kurdish people because it has built its existence on the non-existence of the Kurdish people.

Turkey directed ISIS to Maxmur in 2014

In 2014, the fascist Turkish state directed ISIS gangs to Maxmur for the invasion of Bashûr (Southern Kurdistan, Northern Iraq) and Iraq. However, with the intervention of the HPG and YJA Star guerrillas, a unique struggle was waged against the brutal gangs. If it were not for the resistance of the guerrillas and the people of the camp, many cities in Bashûr such as Hewlêr (Erbil), Kirkuk, Duhok would have fallen into the hands of brutal gangs, which would have led to the massacre of the civilian population. What prevented this was the resistance of the guerrillas and the people of the camp. After the liberation of Maxmur, HPG (People’s Defense Forces) and YJA Star (Free Women’s Troops) guerrillas protected the camp against many attacks. In other words, they made the camp safe. However, the fascist Turkish state, which does not tolerate the Kurdish people and their gains in the villages and towns of Bakûr (Northern Kurdistan, South-East Turkey), launched air strikes against the camp in addition to the already ongoing special war.

Guerrillas withdrew from Maxmur

The guerrillas around the camp never entered the camp. In other words, they only provided security for the camp and its residents. They tried to protect the camp in order to prevent a similar attack directed against it in 2014. However, the Turkish state, which knows no limits in its hostility towards the Kurdish people, has carried out air strikes against the camp many times, using the guerrillas as an excuse each time. In all the air strikes that targeted the camp so far, the people have suffered great losses. Many civilians have been killed and injured. All this is in the archives, those who want can look at the archives of Kurdish agencies, televisions and publications. On 11 September 2023, Murat Karayılan, Commander of the People's Defence Centre Headquarters, announced in a statement that they withdrew the HPG and YJA Star guerrilla forces from the Maxmur Camp and said, “The Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla has played its necessary role there and now we entrust the defence task to the young people in Maxmur.”

The occupying Turkish state was constantly committing inhumane crimes against the people by using the presence of HPG and YJA Star guerrillas as an excuse in its attacks against the camp. However, in the last year, it has been proven once again that the reason for the attacks was not the presence of HPG-YJA Star guerrillas. Not even a year after the guerrillas withdrew from the camp, attacks against civilians were organised again! In the latest attack, 3 mothers were injured, one of whom is in serious condition. There are many examples like this proving the fascist Turkish state's hostility towards the Kurdish people. The latest attack on the camp has once again clearly demonstrated this hostility and intolerance.

Iraq is silent and supports Turkey’s recent attacks

The Iraqi state's attitude towards this aggression is silence because Iraq and the Turkish state have reached an agreement on the Kurds. The Iraqi state has also been supporting the attacks by the Turkish state recently. Encouraged by Iraq's silence, the Turkish state is increasing its attacks against the civilian population. In the current situation, Iraq's position is important but not decisive. What is decisive is the attitude of the resisting people in Maxmur camp. If the people resist these attacks and continue their lives by protecting their patriotic values, only then can they defeat the enemy's attacks. Because the Kurds are a people in the grip of genocide. Other excuses are self-deception. The Turkish state has never made the facts public and has always concealed its goals and intentions. Therefore, everyone needs to find out this truth in order to defend themselves against these attacks!
