Seven people detained in Aydın

The Turkish state’s political genocide campaign continues unabated.

In the southwestern Turkish province of Aydın, seven people were detained by the gendarmerie (military police) on Sunday. According to the pro-government press, the operation is related to an investigation by the public prosecutor's office of Aydın on alleged terrorism charges.

The suspects are said to have made ‘propaganda’ for the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), the Communist Party of Turkey/Marxist-Leninist (TKP/ML) and the People's Liberation Party-Front of Turkey (THKP-C).

The detentions were accompanied by raids in the districts of Efeler, Didim, Germencik, Kuşadası and Söke. Those detained were taken to the anti-terrorism headquarters of the provincial gendarmerie command in Aydın, where they were questioned. They are expected to be transferred to a local court on Monday.
