Journalist Seyit Evran commemorated on the 1st anniversary of his death

Journalist-writer Seyit Evran was commemorated by his comrades and colleagues in Qamishlo on the 1st anniversary of his death. During the ceremony, Evran's struggle and his legacy were saluted.

Revolutionary journalist-writer Seyit Evran was commemorated by his comrades and colleagues at his grave in Qamishlo on the 1st anniversary of his death from a heart attack. Evran left behind an important legacy with his struggle and writings.

During the commemoration ceremony held at Şehid Delil Saroxan Cemetery of Martyrs in Qamişlo, participants laid flowers on Seyit Evran's grave and observed a minute of silence.


Speaking at the ceremony, Mihyedîn Hesen, a member of the Assembly of Martyrs' Families, expressed his condolences to Evran's family and comrades and emphasised that his struggle would continue. Hesen said, “Martyr Seyit left us a great legacy with his struggle. We will continue on our way by embracing this legacy.”

Dilyar Cizîrî, Co-Chair of the Free Press Union (YRA), read Seyit Evran's last message before his death. Cizîrî spoke about Evran's 30 years of journalism and revolutionary struggle and drew attention to his perseverance and determination. YRA Board Member Evîn Îbrahîm stated that as Evran's students they would continue his struggle.

During the commemoration ceremony, the slogan ‘Şehîd Namirin’ (Martyrs are immortal) was chanted and Seyit Evran's book ‘The Secret of the Mountains’ was distributed to the participants. The written and spiritual heritage left by Evran continues to be kept alive by his comrades.
