The attacks by the pro-Turkish mercenary groups and HTS jihadists on Syria and the Autonomous Administration areas are becoming increasingly heavier.
The General Commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazlum Abdi, commented on the developments and stressed that the priority was to protect the civilian population.
Commander Abdi said that the SDF is being attacked from more than one direction, and it is thus forced to fight a war on multiple fronts. The Syrian military and its allies have completely collapsed, so the SDF is left with the sole responsibility of protecting the population.
The SDF has tried to establish a humanitarian corridor to enable people to escape from the jihadists. Commander Abdi said: "Our forces have heroically defended the people of Aleppo, Tall Rifaat and Shehba. However, the attacks by the Turkish-backed armed groups disrupted the humanitarian corridor we wanted to create between these regions and the areas in the east."
Commander Abdi stressed that efforts are being made to establish communication with all active parties in Syria to ensure the safety of the population and to move them from Tall Rifaat and Shehba to safe areas in the northeast of the country.
Our resistance in Aleppo continues
Commander Abdi said that the resistance in the Kurdish neighborhoods of Aleppo continues, adding: "Our priority is to protect our people. We will not leave them alone in this difficult time." The General Commander appealed to the international community to support the SDF and ensure the safety of the population. In the Kurdish districts of Aleppo, there are countless refugees who are seeking protection from the jihadists with the SDF or the defense forces.
