The interactions between the SDF General Command and representatives from across north and eastern Syria have been met with widespread approval.

As part of a series of meetings with community leaders, the SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces) Commander-in-Chief, Mazloum Abdi, met with a delegation of Kurdish sheiks and notables from north and eastern Syria. The primary objectives were to assess regional conditions, address local concerns, and foster open dialogue. The meeting was attended by Mahmoud Barkhwadan, a member of the SDF General Command, and Rohlat Afrin, Commander of the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ).

The delegation comprised representatives from the tribes of Qamishlo, Terpa Spia, Rmeilan, Karaki Laki, Direk, Hasakah, Jal Agha, Tal Tamir, and Jabal Kazwan.

The SDF General Command provided a comprehensive overview of the regional situation, with a particular focus on recent developments in Deir ez-Zor from both military and political perspectives. Additionally, the meeting addressed essential service and social issues affecting the local population.

The delegation emphasized the crucial role of such meetings in strengthening communication between the military leadership and the populace, fostering mutual understanding, and building trust.

The recent general amnesty was widely commended by the delegation for its contribution to civil peace, and they called for its expansion to further solidify stability and national reconciliation. They also focused on the need for the return of those displaced from the occupied territories of Girê Spî, Serê Kaniyê, and Afrin.

Kurdish representatives advocated for the activation and support of intra-Kurdish dialogue among various Kurdish parties to preserve cohesion, unity, and stability in north and eastern Syria.

The SDF General Command attentively listened to the demands presented and pledged to transmit them to relevant authorities, ensuring diligent follow-up and prioritization.

The SDF General Command underscored the invaluable contributions of notables, tribal leaders, and Kurdish cultural figures in bridging the gap between the leadership and the community. These meetings will continue to be a cornerstone of the SDF’s commitment to serving the region’s population.

In a similar meeting held several days prior, the SDF General Command engaged with a delegation representing Kurdish tribes and cultural elites from Afrin and Al-Shahba. The Afrin delegation expressed a strong desire to return to their homes and lands, emphasizing the need for improved services and conditions for displaced persons.

These interactions between the SDF General Command and representatives from across north and eastern Syria have been met with widespread approval, renewing hope for enhanced security, improved services, and strengthened support for the SDF’s mission to defend the region and its inhabitants.
