SDF dismantled ISIS terrorist cells in Deir ez-Zor countryside and arrested 24 mercenaries.

The SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces), in cooperation with the Internal Security Forces, launched launched a large-scale security operation on Sunday targeting ISIS terrorist cells in Jazirat al-Bouhmaid in Deir ez-Zor western countryside.

The operation was launched following residents’ appeals after the increasing in terrorist operations of ISIS and other groups which targeted the tribe chiefs and dignitaries of the region, employees of service institutions and scientific staff.

The SDF said in a statement: “The operation affected more than 53 points, including IDPs camp that were exploited by ISIS terrorists to hide, manufacture IEDs and recruit terrorists.

During the operation, our forces arrested 24 terrorists including the three terrorists who last Wednesday, killed Muayyad al-Rayash, a member in Deir ez-Zor legislative council, as well as a number of others involved in various terrorist operations. Furthermore, a number of plans for terrorist operations have also been thwarted.”

The statement added: “The forces also confiscated a large number of hand grenades, kalashnikovs, sharp metal weapons, satellite communications equipment, identification papers and diagrams for some terrorist operations, as well as various military uniforms and narcotic drugs.

Our forces emphasize their constant struggle against ISIS cells and other groups that undermine the security and stability of the region. We prevent them from obstructing the construction and development processes carried out by the Autonomous Administration’s institutions in Northern and Eastern Syria.”
