SDF commemorates Qereçok martyrs

SDF affirmed their “determination to support our struggle against backwardness and occupation with great determination to protect the achievements of our people.”

The Turkish occupation state carried out an attack on Mount Qarajokh on April 25, 2017, in which 20 YPG and YPJ fighters were killed.

The General Command of SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces) released a statement commemorating the martyrs of Qarajokh (Qereçok) on the occasion of April 25th, Martyrs’ Day in northern and eastern Syria.

The aim of this attack was to hinder our progress against ISIS and to strike the struggle for freedom and democracy for the peoples of northern and eastern Syria, said the SDF and recalled that the Turkish state continued its attacks in 2018 in Afrin, and in 2019 in Serekaniye and Gri Spi.

“In the struggle against ISIS terrorism and the occupation of the Turkish state, the people of Kurdistan and the peoples of Syria have paid a heavy price and sacrificed hundreds of their children. As a result of this struggle, ISIS has been physically destroyed in the region and our struggle against ISIS terrorism has entered a new phase. The aim of the occupying state’s attacks on Mount Qarajokh was to weaken this fighting force and impede progress. But today, in the face of all attempts to prevent it, the struggle for freedom and democracy of our peoples against the occupiers and underdevelopment in all its forms continues in a stronger form,” said the SDF.

The statement continued, “In recent days, the city of Qamishli, due to provocations by the National Defense Group, witnessed clashes between them and the Asayish. The National Defense Group has long been carrying out provocations to destabilize the country. The clashes that occurred recently resulted in martyrs from Asayish and civilians, and one of the dignitaries of the Bani Sabaa clan, Hayes al-Jaryan, was martyred by the National Defense Group for his peaceful efforts. We offer our condolences to the families of our martyrs and our people.”

SDF once again commemorated respectfully “our comrades who were martyred on April 25, 2017” and affirmed their “determination to support our struggle against backwardness and occupation with great determination to protect the achievements of our people.”
