People of Kobanê bid farewell to 3 martyrs

A member of the Internal Security Forces and two fighters of the Syrian Democratic Forces were laid to rest in Kobanê.

Mihemed Şêx Nebî, a member of the Internal Security Forces who died on October 19, and Dozvan Qasim (Serwet Ehmed) and Berçem Kobanê (Ednan Şêx Mihemed), fighters of the SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces) who died in an accident on October 20, were laid to rest in the northern Syrian canton of Kobanê on Saturday.

Cîhan Elî, co-chair of the Council of Martyrs’ Families, and Îsmaîl Îsmaîl, a commander in the Kobanê Military Council, addressed the crowd during the funeral ceremony at the Şehit Dicle Cemetery of Martyrs.

Denouncing the increasingly ongoing Turkish attacks on North-East Syria and the international silence against Turkey’s crimes, Cîhan Elî said: “We will succeed. We will rely on no one. Everyone and international powers are watching the attacks and massacres of the Turkish state, showing us that everyone is complicit in the massacre of our people. We, the Kurdish people, are not afraid of Turkey’s attacks. We will continue marching on the path of resistance.”

Commander Îsmaîl Îsmaîl stated that the Turkish state attacked North-East Syria due to the failure of its attacks on the mountains of Kurdistan (referring to the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in the Kurdistan region of Iraq). Îsmaîl continued: “The Turkish state is bombing the civilian settlements in the infrastructure in North-East Syria with bombs and UAVs. Still, they will not achieve their goals. The people of the region must be cautious against the Turkish state’s plans to depopulate the region.”

Following the speeches, the three martyrs were laid to rest.
