Mazlum Abdi calls for permanent ceasefire in Kobanê

Mazlum Abdi called for a permanent ceasefire following the drone attack in Kobanê that killed nine people.

In a drone attack carried out by Turkey on the village of Berxbotan in Kobanê, a total of nine people, including seven children from the same family, were killed. The massacre sparked widespread outrage. Among those condemning the attack was the General Commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazlum Abdi. In a statement on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Abdi called for an end to the attacks.

Mazlum Abdi’s statement is as follows:

"We extend our condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the Turkish state’s bombardment in the rural areas of Kobanê and wish a swift recovery to the injured. The targeting of farmers and children is clearly a crime against humanity. The interim government must take responsibility for preventing the killing of its citizens by foreign states. Additionally, we call on the International Coalition and other influential powers in the region to fulfill their responsibilities in stopping these crimes. Declaring a permanent ceasefire in Syria is essential for the country to move toward a peaceful and secure future."
