"Jînerjî Days" kicks off today in Northern and Eastern Syria to pay tribute to Nagihan Akarsel

"Jînerjî Days" will be held in Northern and Eastern Syria in memory of journalist and academic Nagihan Akarsel, who was murdered by the Turkish state.

 “Jînerjî Days” will be held in memory of journalist and academic Nagihan Akarsel, a member of the Kurdish Women's Library, Archive and Research Center, who was murdered in an armed attack by the MIT, the secret services of the Turkish state in Sulaymaniyah on 4 October 2022.

Organized by the North and East Syria Jineolojî Academy, "Jînerjî Days" will begin today and end on Wednesday 4 October.

Event in 7 cities

According to Nûjinha, events will be held in 7 cities. Today, a press statement will be made in front of the United Nations in Qamishlo and a message will be conveyed to the UN officials.

The performance ‘I am Nîsan’ will be shown. There will also be dengbêj and Kurdish women's poetry recitals. The play 'Jin, Jiyan, Azadi' will be staged by Elefterya Group. The same events will also be held in Kobanê, Shehba, Tebqa, Manbij, Aleppo and Derik.

On the anniversary of Nagihan Akarsel's murder, a library named after her will be opened in the city of Aleppo.

Tribute in Shehba

Afrin-Shehba Canton Jineolojî Center in Shehba's Fafînê district paid tribute to martyr Nagihan Akarsel.

Henenê Hesen, a member of the Jineolojî Center said: "We talked about women and the building of a new society and shared many experiences and ideas with Martyr Nagihan, who visited every area while in Afrin."

At the event, two videos on the subject of "Hezkirina Sêvê" were shown and poems were read.
